Too Old To Party

Rob and Liz have been married seventeen years. It’s their anniversary. They’ve decided on a cruise while Liz’s parents watch the kids.

In the daytime, Rob and Liz sunbathe and eat bite-size quiche and embarrass themselves in front of all the college kids who are also on the trip. At night, Liz watches their effervescent silhouettes.

She sighs. “We’re getting old, Rob.”

“Excuse me?”

“You know… to party.”

Rob takes her by the waist and they make gasping love on the railing of a cruise ship drifting in the starry ocean night. Serendipitously, they realize they’re too young to die.
