the ghost who was wrong

Albert woke up, turned over, and saw his wife, Helen, who had jumped off of a cliff ten years earlier, lying beside him, asleep. Translucent. When she woke up, she put on a translucent tracksuit and sneakers. She pulled her translucent hair back in front of the mirror. Albert could see her reflection. That’s what really freaked him out. A hallucination that detailed could be a dream, a side effect of drugs, or the supernatural. Albert had never done drugs. He pinched his cheek, then followed Helen’s ghost outside. They walked eighteen miles, climbed a mountain, and jumped off. Together.
