Telling Tales Circus

Thunder clapped above Happy’s trailer. The nervous clown paced around her living area. Without her red nose and blue wig, she looked more like a mime in pajamas. Then, loud as the thunder, a pounding on the front door. Ben, the lion tamer.

“I heard about you and Randall,” Ben said.

“First,” Happy said, “The ringleader wouldn’t hook up with a clown. Second, he’s gay.”

“Where’d you hear that?”

“Where’d you hear I was with him?”

“I saw you,” Ben said. “Behind the cannon.”

“That wasn’t Randall,” Happy said. “It was Sylvia. From Box Office.”

“Wait, that wasn’t a man?”
