Me and the King

The new King is mysterious. I have learned little of him since I became his Wife. He sends his food away untouched. His parties go conspicuously unattended. He reads many books by the most learned men of the Realm partway, only to set them aside in annoyance. He answers no questions. He spends the evenings looking at the sky through strange contraptions he built with his own hand.

He has not favored my chambers with his presence at night. I am young and fair, but he does not visit. I begin to think he has no Earthly appetites at all.
