Kitty on Tenterhooks

Kitty on Tenterhooks
“Hang in there, girl!” Melissa’s optimism makes me sick. She’s the type of person who will give you a hug even if you insist that she doesn’t. It works on some people, but not me.

“Thanks,” I say, “But there’s no sense in worrying about it right now.” Melissa smiles at me and I know she doesn’t believe a word. Later, I find a postcard on my desk. It’s a picture of a puzzled looking kitten entangled in pink yarn and written on the back in loopy cursive is We’re all rooting for you! Good luck out there! –Love, M
