We loved to sit and hear Grandma tell stories about her days as a movie star. All the lavish parties, her affairs with glamorous co-stars, the scandals she had witnessed – we couldn’t get enough. The best was when she pulled out her photo albums and showed us the publicity stills from when she was young and beautiful and the world was black-and-white. But Grandma didn’t really like talking about that stuff. She said it made her too sad. “I used to be a star,” she’d cry. “But the only thing anyone will remember is that damn commercial.”
