He Swallowed a Bee

Gus had done that trick where you snort a guppy up your nose and cough it out through your sinuses at least a half dozen times.

He had lain on his side while an earthworm burrowed into his ear and then pulled it out by its tail with some tweezers.

“There’s an animal in all of us,” is what he always said.

He sat on the bench in Wilson Park with a needle in his teeth while he got the bee just right between his fingertips. Getting it tethered was the hard part. Catching it in his mouth was easy.
