Come Here (Nick Version)

He never turned off his phone at night, just in case she wanted to call. One night she finally did. The reception was spotty in his apartment, so he went outside to the patio, where the cold night concrete made his calves ache. If it were anyone else, he would have taken the time to grab his shoes and jacket. If it were anyone else, he would have let it ring.

He was so choked up when he answered the phone that he had to cough before he could get his voice to work. “Hey,” he said.

“Hey,” she said.

Wow. That’s some cold concrete! I enjoy the poignancy of this. Well done!

Love this Nick, it’s the closest in sentiment to what I had in mind for this title… I appreciate the depth of implied emotions… Great job : )
