And then she fell.

Jenni Burns soared in front of me at pep rallies. I peered down the slide of my trombone, watching her sway to “Hey Baby,” flashes of her blue bloomers giving me unreasonable expectations that every woman in my life should be that outgoing. I never left town, and it was kind of funny how all of the garbage of the people who left came back. When Aaron Springer dropped out of law school to go to rehab, when Mike Bloom got caught shoplifting, when Jenni’s husband, the American Gladiator, left her for a dancer, we heard it here first.
